Title: 16.5 rim ???
Post by: wrigley_1285 on October 25, 2009, 11:47:53 pm
i'm going to be picking up a 83 3/4 ton within the next couple of days. it has the 16.5 rims with some older military tires on it. but a few months ago i got a brand new set of pro comp mt 35x12.50/15's for a steal of a deal. i was wondering if a 15" rim would fit on the 3/4 ton axles? i'd really hate to have to sell my tires.

Odds are no.  I'm no expert, but I believe the 15" are 5 or 6 bolt and the 16.5's are 8 bolt.
You can double check when you get the truck, but I wouldn't hold my breath on them fitting.

Ive seen 15s on the rear, but dont think they will fit the front due to caliper clearance. It also depends on what size drums in the back. Over all, not really worth trying, would be better just going with 16s, and find a buyer for the 15s

i have a couple more questions concerning the 16.5 rim. what's the backspacing on the factory rims?

also if i absolutely cannot get 15's to fit then i'm either going to get 16x10's or 16x8's. the only backspacing i've found for 16's with an 8 x 6.5 is either 2.5" , 4" , or 4.25". my question is what backspacing should i go with? i'm thinking that 2.5 might stick out too far?

does anyone have any pics that i could checkout? if so please include what rim size, backspacing and tire size. thanks

You want 4" backspacing.
