My 87 short/step has a problem with the fuel gauge... the thing wiggles! Both tanks, and it reads correctly when the truck is still.
As I drive it bounces.... does not matter the amount of fuel in the tank(s). Is there a resistor on the printed circuit plastic that should dampen this behavior?
Thanks
Zeke

Most older GM products I have had do this...I've always chalked it up to the gauge design, which isn't a slow-reacting thermal type...it uses some sort of magnet affair.

Mine do this to and I have always wondered what causes it. I wonder if the aftermarket tanks dont have baffles in them or something to keep the fuel from slashing around

It is the design of the sending unit that causes it to float around.
