Title: Tie rod ends 1st or 2nd design?

Although my truck is an 80 my front diff seems to be an earlier style. I have the small spindles used in earlier units and the tie rods are 7/8 as opposed to the later 1 inch specified at Rockauto and other sites. Anyway I need new tierods and the earlier and later items seem to be the same length but different diameters. I would like to go with the 1 inch, any reason no to buy the 1 inch? They are actually cheaper.

Ok figured out my own question. The 7/8 has a hole in the center for the steering stabilizer. The 1 inch has the hole near the end, so its the 7/8 I have to use.
