Okay, I bought this truck When I was 16 years old for $1200 dollars, and always dreamed of hooking this thing up. Well as most of us at 16 we did'nt have a dime. Well it all started when the transmission went out. Me and my dad started working on it and was just gonna simply re-do the inside, all stock. Well then that turned into getting it painted, it sat from their for a while. Well one day dad comes home with a set of DART Pro 1 heads, and says I think Im gonna build the motor. Well so we started, and could stop ordering nothing but the best until we hit about $22,000 later. I documented it decent for a while but somehow the pictures have been lost somewhere, although I saved some for you who like to look just as me.
I have been a on these forums for 7 years looking and reading. Well its my time to give back. I am going to start documenting as much as I can for all you to see. I hope to have the most extreme 4x4 show truck this site has yet to see, as well as give TVBlazers's ride a little competition(P.S props on your ride, I might have to steal your door panels. lol. Just cause went with that sick Ramjet we have decided to put twin turbos in near future.)
Anyways I would like to thank everyone on here for the informantion and help and support, and I hope that it helps a few of you and give you some ideas(because most of my ideas orginated from here!)
Thanks everyone from 73-87!
Blake McAlavy
P.S Any pointers or opinions are appreciated and considered!!!!

engine looks nice n blingy! Why the intake swap? Is the engine in the truck now?
-
Yea its got some bling, sometimes I think I went overboard. Well I am wanting to make a more "truck,4x4, mean) look to the truck and if I put a higher rise intake it will look better and some performance as well. But first thing is to hide ALOT of stuff in the engine compartment. I got more pictures coming.

Was a nasty old farm truck(completely totaled actually)

Last picture I have as of right now.
Plans-
Well for right as of now the Front is almost complete to show, although Im picky so Its gonna go threw some changes. Only thing left is to hide wires and polish it out. I think I am going to hide the batter, even though I have a new optima with polished mount. I also have a Chrome Master Cylinder and Booster but I think Im going to go back and hide it under the dash and do away with the Bracket on the right side of the firewall and shave it smooth like the other side. I need to get the A/C lines vaccumed and filled.
The entire frame has been painted and fuel cell was put into the rear. The body needs to be lined up and re-painted and One peice window kit will go in, and solid rear window and new weather stripping threw out.
Bed is to come off this week, and flipped upside down and sanded and prepared for Rhino liner or Chassis Black(not sure). Opinions???
We have decided to go ahead and finish the interior and then do the outside body work(not much to do). Sorta backwards but, theirs not much to be done outside. We have debated putting some Bushwacker Fender flares on give it a meaner 4x4 look. 20x10 XD Rockstars in black with Nitto Mud Grapplers are going to be put on.
I will list all the parts bought soon.

Oh if your mouth isnt watering yet, it will. The exhaust work...... INSANE.
After it comes out of the Hooker Super Comps. It goes into 3" Stainless that is Mandrel bent at Exotic Exhaust and has QTP Stainless Cut-offs and then to Magnaflow polished mufflers and then dumps Chevelle style out the Left and right side behind the tires. Sounds Beautiful!!!
-
Looks like a mall crawler not a 4x. Too much show truck to actually be used. Looks good though.
-

Please don't....and please don't put a visor on it either!
Also I wouldn't change the intake just for looks... you don't want to sacrifice low end torque and good throttle response.
Everything else looks really nice! What did you paint the frame with?
-
I used eastwood company chassis black, it appears alot shinier than what it real is. Well we don't really have a lower torue problem, but the rims and tires on it are just to roll around they look horrible. Can't wait to get working on it.

Put a real grille in it also, not one of those phoney phantom thingys...............
-
Still debating on the grille, I have a phantom as of now, but we have several options open that will look good. But I am going to put a rockstar emblem in the middle of it.
Heres what I want the grill to look like..

I am putting the rockstar 20" on 35 nittos so. It will go with the theme.
-
You are gonna put the RBP logo in the grille? Is there going to be anything on the truck from RBP?
-
The star goes with the XD Rockstar Wheels, you can lick them up, the center cap of the wheels has a star. The wheels are sick looking on trucks in matte black finish, if your into 4x4 check them out.
-
Man the phantom grille will look good, if you already have one use it! I have one on my truck and I get more compliments on it than any thing else. Also those Rockstar wheels will do look awesome on 4x4s.
-
Im sure I will do that for a while, But I think I will come back and do something more custom. But the rockstar emblem and phantom grille will be used first I beleive. Well I just ordered 100 sq. ft of fat mat. And am about to place an order with Chris on this site, for a few things.
-
wow man this truck is goona be off the hook i love the idea with the emblem in the grill and the black wheels on a black truck, cant wait to see more lots of pics man looks great so far keep it up and enjoy the time with your working on the project i know i do when me and my da work on my stepside, best experince ever 8)

To each his own...

(Nevermind)
-
Is this truck ever going to see anything but pavement?
-
Well it sees gravel all the time if that counts lol. But not it will be garage kept and pavement driven. I love the 4x4 look, really aggressive look. The thing Im sorta going with is luxury feeling interior with leather and digitals I have installed dakota digitals gauges as well as the vintage air system and the Heat and Air controls are illuminated the same color as the gauges so they match. But on the outside I want that 4x4 aggressive rugged look but with show quality.
1983stepside,
Yea I really enjoy working on it with my dad, We use to do it all the time and enjoyed it more than anything, then he got married.
-
Cool truck. It don't have to get dirty to look good. I love it when people ask me if I take mine in the mud. When the frame and suspension is all clean and painted. I don't think they would have a clue as to how long it would take to clean it. Keep it big and shiney works for me. besides it will last a whole lot longer.
-
Sure!!! I will trade for your solid rear glass, as long as it has no trim around it, I am looking for or installing a new solid with no chrome/aluminum/metal trim. It will strictly be a solid glass with black weather striping. I am not sure how we can swap cause you live in OH with it being glass. What do you think?? Do you have some pictures of your truck??
Plans and Progress
Okay well tonight after work I striped the interior down of any plastic, seats, everything except gauges and vintage air under dash. I also pulled the lame windshield wiper motor that I was stupid for buying, and even more retarded for painting bright red!
The bed is loose as well, about to get put back on saw horses to completely repainted. Maybe even cut out front of bed and back of cab for custom sub-box like this......

Suggestions???? Opinions???
First things first!!!
I will take the hood, fenders, and inner fenders off So that I can work on the fire wall(still not statisfied). I want nothing on the firewall!!! I plan to shave the right side of the brake booster/ master cylinder, remove the holes to the wiper motor. and cut downt the bracket so it only holds the steering column and shaft. Here's how I am going to hide the brake booster/ master cylinder...
http://www.kugelkomponents.com/products/brakesystem_reverse90.php
Second. I refuse to pay outrageous amount of money for frame battery mount when I have a great welder. So I am looking at plans, maybe creating plans, to fabricate a battery box mount to frame.
Third. MY TURNING RADIUS SUCKS!!! Okay, well I replaced all the ball joints, steering arms, rods, bushings, fittings, you name it. But my turning radius is horrible, I am in the process or fabricating a bracket to lower the steering box so my steering arm is level.
Why does the 1982 k10 turn better left than right????
Pictures coming!!!
