Title: New from WI
Post by: 81C20 on November 06, 2009, 10:12:08 pm
Hey everyone, just dropping by to introduce myself and my rig. I have an '81 C20 Custom Deluxe, 292I6, SM456, small 14 bolt rear end and I believe 4.10's. I got the truck from its second owner, a friend of my dad, in exchange for a bottle of whiskey, since it had been sitting behind his garage for a year or so since he got a newer truck.

My other vehicles include a 1992 GMC Typhoon, #1902, a 1990 GMC T15 pickup, and a 87 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera Cruiser. Used to own a Syclone, #1301, although it had a ZZ4 crate engine installed after the original was destroyed by a previous owner. Also had a 1993 Taurus SHO, but that was totaled when I was rear-ended.

A little about myself:

I'm 21, lived in WI (Pewaukee to be exact) my whole life until recently. I attended Universal Technical Institute's Glendale Heights ILL campus, and lived in Glendale Heights for the two years I was there. I graduated in January, earning three ASEs along the way (A1 Automotive Engines, A5 Automotive Brakes, and T2 Diesel Engines). I currently work at a Midas in Milwaukee, but I plan on working on trucks later on. Sorry for the drawn out introduction, I've been on several forums for far longer (mainly syty.net) but I needed a resource for my 81.

I work at Midas on 124th and Capitol. It was a good deal, but the restoration starts next summer. Floors, rockers, and some parts of the bedsides need help. I did manage to buff out the original paint so it's red again and not pink. The only kicker is shes spinning 2700 @ 60mph.  :o I'm not sure how high I can (safely) rev the old 292.
