Title: 1987 Blazer 2.8 Smog bypass belt
Post by: phat_nos_rat on November 07, 2009, 02:03:03 pm
I have a 1987 Blazer 2.8.  I bought it for $1000.  I had to fix the map sensor and an oxygen sensor and the check engine light went out.  Well, the light is back on but I still get around 19mpg (I drive it easy to get that).  I can't figure out how to get the light back off.  I don't see anything wrong under the hood and it still runs great, so I have decided to bypass my smog pump to see if I could get more gas milage and more hp like I did when I had my mustang.  I would bypass the a/c also.  Does anybody know how long of a belt I need to do this before I go to auto zone and try different ones.  Myabe someone has already done this.

This forum is for full size Chevy's K5 Blazers in this section like this :

Nevertheless you need to find out why the engine light is on. Jump the A&B terminal in the data link connector and report back with your code. The engine light will flash (example: flash pause flash flash is code 12)

AS far as your belt goes wrap a rope around the pulley's and measure it.
