Welcome from Texas. Nice truck and cute dog.
-
How do you post those huge pictures?? Oh ya, nice truck - I like the green
-
Nice! Pretty clean for its year of truck.
-
Welcome from NW Indiana
-
nice truck and hound lol. about the huge pictures if you have photobucket host them just use the [img ] code and copy and past that it will be that huge or small whatever you want
-
hey can anyone help me with getting rid of my hideous mirrors on the doors? i can put on a pair of stainless steel aftermarket littler ones like on the 80's models but what is your best idea to hide the holes its gonna leave on the doors? want it to look nice and not just crappy cover on the holes...what do you guys do?
mark
-
Only way to cover the holes in my opinion is weld them up and paint them.
-
crap i was afraid of that cuz i dont know how to weld...if i took it to a body shop how much do you think they'd charge?
-
Not much to weld the holes, but a body shop will try to talk you into sanding, throwing in some bondo, more sanding, etc. They wont be able to match paint because of fade.
-
the paint has died and gone to heaven along time ago. i can do the filler and sanding but dont have the equipment to weld so maybe it will be pretty cheap then huh?
thanks for your guys's imput
-
well i found a new truck for sale today. what do you guys think would you keep old green or get the new one? check it out on this link. http://portland.craigslist.org/nco/cto/1468748695.html
it is a diesel so the gas mileage would be cool plus i dont like my truck being jacked up with huge tires. what would you guys do?

I personally like ol green but its up to you man. With the money you use on that 1 pictured you can fix your mirror problem and put a decent paint job on the truck for the price of the truck your looking at...
Just my opinon though..
thanks
pat
-
um a decent paint job? yea right for 1750? i can rattle can paint job the truck but thats about it for around where i live.
-
maaco man that is where you should try.Heck id do it for 1750 and give you a job like mine...
-
cool i'll fly you up to yakima washington and you can get to work! jk :D
-
If you don't want to weld the holes shut and have some time, you could get into the door and epoxy some small sheet metal patches over the holes from behind, then use a good filler over the hole from the outside. It's a little bit better than just skimming over with filler on the outside only until it's filled.

well i got my new mirrors from truck today. comes with some screws, washers, plastic weird looking tan screw things, a black plate, and the mirror itself. also comes with some worthless instructions..... can anyone help me with a step by step on how to put these on the door? do you have to take off the door panel on the inside at all? im a newbie so dumb it down for me....dont want to just start drilling holes and not do it right. thanks.
mark here's some pics

I can't tell from the picture, but if the bag has nut sets, technically you can just drill the holes and drop them in. Of course the factory ones have a brace that secures the inner/outer skin so you have to remove the door panel to put it in.
-
the part im having problem with is that black backing plate. the 3 holes seem to be a lot larger than the 3 bolts they gave me...the little tan washers are also too small for that backing plate. i understand how to get the bracket on and then you slide the cover over that and put the 1 little screw in. i just don't get the backing plate part. hmmm.... who would have known something little like this could stump someone. but im new to working on vehicles
thanks

You talking about the black plastic? It goes against the paint.
Holes are drilled, then plastic, then mirror bracket, then the washers then the bolts. then the cover slips over
-
Yeah, it gets sadwitched between the sharp edged outer stainless cover and the paint.
-
After 2 hrs trying i finally got the old mirrors off....rusty as heck. then the dumby b4 me had one screw on each mirror with a nut on the back and look at the hole that the nut made!!!!! i hope it wont cost too much to get these holes welded up cuz i dont have a welder! IF Its a lot im thinking of buying a cheap welder and trying her out myself.. never tried to weld before anyways heres some pics

hey guys i got my new mirrors on now. made a huge difference in the cleaner look in the truck. i hated those mirrors the most out of anything on my truck. here's some new pics. the holes were welded shut then bondo then primered. theres no way to paint them though cuz it would never match. so for now its just going to have gray on there

oh yea it snowed here a couple of days ago (most is melted now) snowed like 7 inches. put ol green in 4x4 and man that truck mobs! i was trying to get her to slide around corners on some not so busy side streets. nothing. i've never had something drive so nice on such crappy roads. well worth the money paid for her just for that reason alone
