Title: I want to put a folding bench seat in my '73 K10
Post by: Brady on November 17, 2009, 11:21:33 am

I have read numerous posts on installing bucket seats, but I just want to put a folding bench seat in my '73 K10. It came with a nonfolding bench seat and it is very difficult to get to anything stored behind the seat, such as tools. Can anyone tell me what years would bolt in without having to fabricate brackets.

TIA,
Brady

Thanks for the response!  Do you know what range of years might also fit?

I'm not positive, but I think '73 was the only year they didn't fold forward.  My '73 doesn't.

My 1980 custom deluxe had a non folding seat also. Hated it! Just hunt around because I'm not so sure it had anything to do with a specific year.

If your handy with hog ring pliers just undo the side pieces of vinyl, remove the second bolt from each side, trim the vinyl and re hook it to the seat frame. Have done a couple over the years.

Any folding bench will work 73-87 I think the earlier years were an option, and if you got any package but the strip model you got a folding bench seat.

Thanks again for all of the responses!

I will probably try this first and also keep an eye out for a folding seat.  Maybe I could use lynch pins in place of the second bolts.  This would give a little more security and still be easily removable.
