Jeez... I think he needs to take a shop class on how to change a tire. My wife even changed one with bolts once.

That is worse than me using a chainsaw to to take a tire off a wheel.

I don't see what the big deal is. Just another typical Honduh enthusiast.
Perhaps (s)he missed the part in latest Fast'n'furious DVD extras on how to change a tire w/o destroying a wheel.
The best thing about it is that (s)he was smart enough to post all that on a public forum.

Man, when I think I've pulled a real bonehead move, all I need to do is go on the internet (or to the local Walmart) and I feel pretty darn good about myself.

Another case of too much force and not enough brains.  And his online chums are no better.  They all concentrate their "advice" on what to do after he broke something off in the lug.  Let's start with why it broke in the first place  -  Instead of pulling on that key hard enough to break it off, he should have found either:
A)  A BFH and tapped it until he freed it.
B)  A hex socket and popped it loose with an impact gun.

Brains before brawn - works 95% of the time.

Thanks for the chuckle!

Well gentlemen, my question is not so much as to how stupid you have to be to do this, but why you would be so stupid to put it on the web, come on... really, I wouldn't want anyone to know... oh well, at least i feel better about the mistakes I make, and don't publish.

i didn't even read all 18 pages but this guy is a tool i would of just left the one bolt in and did some burn outs or drifted till it popped off. i mean I'm not even a rocket scientist and i thought of that one ::)

so he broke the "key" of in the lug
then broke a "titanium" tap of in the key..... side note were do you get the titanium taps???

doesnt want to get a "ez-out" becasue they are the same as a tap.... ::)

so he saw-zaw a ~100.00 alluminum rim to get at it....

granted on his behave... have the wrong lug nuts/bolts can make wheel removeal a PITA on anything...

No joke, my friend and me had to cut a 22 inch spoke off of a caprice he bought out of somebodys yard. It only came with that one wheel because the previous owners had not been able to get it off either.....It was fun though

well that wasn't the smartest thing to do but....im new to working on vehicles too and im 29.  nobody ever taught me anything and so all the little things i do are learning as i go.  i have problems with little problems that most of you guys could do everyday in your sleep.  but that doesnt mean i dont have the desire to learn how and im having fun learning as i go.  i hope one day when i have an issue and ask this forum for help i dont get labeled as a complete dumby.  i dont want to feel bad about not knowing this stuff.  lets give the guy a break

if you have a question then ask don't do something then ask, ask first. heck even blazen on here who normally answers question ask some sometimes. even if you do do something stupid which i think we all done you wont be made fun of "at least in front of you" lol j/k.

An accident or simple mistake is understandable. My old boss told me almost every day if you do not break something once and a while you ain't working. But if you are destroying something and think it is funny while your doing it. That is a good indicator you are stupid (and fired). That guy could have drove to almost any shop and have had a nut welded to the lug nut then most likely removed  it with an impact.

alright so next time i do something really stupid i just wont post a video or pics.  then....who's to know right
and yea  people think im weird for enjoying my 97 ugly truck but i definately ask before doing something on my truck.  especially on here where it seems like every project/problem someone on here has already done it.  ive found this forum so useful already.  for example i had to put a new key cylinder in my truck cuz my key wouldnt shut off.  i found a link in here about fixing a sloppy tilt wheel and the pics and everything helped so much.
 thank you guys
mark :)

sorry to hear that man. But you can probably get is running for less than a 100 bucks compared to the guy down the street who has to spend 100 bucks just to figure out he has to spend several 100 more to get it running. The he has to make his $500 dollar payment.. *L*

Wow, what a tool. Same thing happened to me, the key broke, had to get the wheel off. Only way for me was to weld a crappy socket to the locking nut, then use a breaker bar to remove it. The wheel was crap, but even then I would never do that. Oh well, tools like that keep the part store people laughing :D

No way.  That two tone green is awesome.  Red would be a step down from the coolness it currently posesses..

That's down to some moron overtightening the wheel bolts in a tyre place. I had to use a 6 foot extension bar to undo the bolts on my Blazer. My 18 volt Snap On impact gun didn't even have a chance!!

Post by: 78 Chevyrado on September 06, 2010, 11:15:36 am
Don't buy THAT guy's VW... ;)

I've had tire shops do that to my cars 3 different times, using an impact on the wheel lock...  1 of the times they got the wheel lock out no problem.  2 of the times they ruined it so bad tightening it up and during trying to remove it they had to cut the wheel off.   It was cool though because I got a new wheel on one and on another my wheel wasnt available anymore so i got another set of 4.  ;D

My 19 year old son had the same problem with the stupid racing rims he put on his 240sx,  then he lost the key.  So he got a flat and couldn't figure out how to get them off.  I let him sweat for a week while he went everywhere looking for a key.  After a week, I welded on a solid bar to each lock on every wheel, with a bar at the ends and carefully twisted them off.  The problem is the wheel nuts fit into the rim so close you couldn't get a socket or anything in there.  Needless to say he won't loose the new key he bought for the new locks.

Was going to read it but after reading the 1st page and saw it went on for 142 I gave up. But I remember when AutoZone sold some kind of fuel cleaner or hp adder I forget what it was but after doing some test smelling it then trying to burn it wouldn't burn that well we came up with the ideal it might just be a shot of diesel or something like that
