Title: Fuel pump inside or outside tank?
Post by: Gearhead1 on November 27, 2009, 08:39:27 am
I'm building a rear mounted stainless tank for my 87 SWB and wondering if I should keep the fuel pump outside of the tank. (I think thats where the orig used to be...no idea, cant find it...only have the sending unit) Future plans are for a 383, so should I add a higher volume pump now? Where is a good location, does it need to be near the tank or can it go anywhere?

Thanks
Gear

Is it going to be carbureted?

No, I want to keep the TBI. Factory for now (on the stock 5.7) and then a bigger unit on a 383 or 406 maybe...heck, maybe a Caddy 500  :)

Aftermarket electric pump on a frame rail maybe?
