Title: "chassis saver" over galvanised steel
Post by: chronos on November 27, 2009, 03:16:50 pm
Got my new bed in the garage and started getting it ready
for the chassis saver.
Question is will it stick to galvanised metal??
Looks to me like the bed floor and part of the inner wheel
tubs are galvanised??
Thanks :)

I think as long as it is sandblasted or sanded with a heavier grit 180, 120 maybe. Never used it over it before though myself.

I've always been told that the galv needs to be etched chemically (acid wash) or naturally (exposed to the environment for 6mos.) sandblasted (etch-blast) or sanded.

And even after that the adhesion "CAN" be marginal at best.

Paint stuck to it at one time, I dont know why chassis saver would be any different.
