My 81 has a serp set-up, so does my 72, but I can't find
the line anywhere? Nothing I find looks like what I have?
Anybody have any ideas on what I can do? Thank you :'(
-
Autozone?
-
81 never came with serp set-up. I have spent hours
at numerous stores trying their patience and nothing.
I can't find anything that looks like what I have on it.
*A custom one made from Summit is around $70.00

Can you post a pic or Two of the engine, power steering pump, ect.? Maybe someone can Identify it. Is this a factory looking set-up on some year vehicle or A/M stuff? Lorne

Aftermarket GM serp set-up on my 72 Blazer.
PS box fittings are the same on as on my 81.
Pump end we think is a 14mm x 1.5 w/ o-ring
Box end should be a 5/8-18 w/ out an o-ring

Wowsers, you guys are quick on the fly using serches :o
Do you think I can bend that straight end w/ out kinking it?
Nobody in my town has it for me to even test fit this >:(
-
I found one, but it's o-ring on both ends, can it be modified?
-
my 79 had the flange type and my 86 has the o ring type. i pulled the engine out of my 86 to put in my 79 ran into that problem then i just switch PS pumps and that was done. might be easer to go to the junk yard and grab a newer style
-
I thought of that, but everything is brand new :'(
-
you might be able to get someone to make one for you or combine the two
-
What exactly do you need?
-
Take the fitting out of a newer pump that takes the 0-ring type and put it in yours. I have done it many times.
-
Are you talking about a Box fitting? Where can I get one of those?
-
I am talking about the hp fitting on the pump. I think it takes a 1 inch wrench. I can take pics tomorrow if you need them, I know I have pumps in my shed.
-
The pump is not the issue, the box is. I found lines
for the pump, just not for the box itself. However,
I guess I could change it out and go that route ;)
-
It sounds to me that you have a pre-'81 box & a post-'81 pump. You should be able to get a hose for the pre-'81 (flare seat ends) & change out the fitting on the back of the pump to a flare fitting as mentioned. Hope this helps, Lorne
-
Exactly, but can you buy that fitting anywhere?
If so, what exactly do you ask for?
This shouldn't be difficult >:(
-
It would be the pressure side fitting on the pump...Maybe still available from GM? ANY pre-'81 pump has what your looking for, doesn't have to be a Chevy, truck, 350 or anything like that...a '72 Buick pump, a '77 Toranado, a '79 Chevy van, ect. ect. ect. Salvage yard trip? Now if your trying to get a chrome one or something, now your on your own. Hope this helps, Lorne
