I was just curious if anybody has seen the Jegs Vortec Heads Package deal that comes with a pair of heads and edlebrock intake for about 900 bucks, didnt know if it was a good deal or not!

Or what about a pair of Gm's vortec heads,i know for obvious reason i would get a new vortec intake manifold and center bolt valve covers but im reading here to that you must buy a set of self-aligning rocker arms so would these vortec gm heads be much different then the ones jegs offer in there vortec package?or are they the same heads! thanks

I don't remember if they are the same head (I don't think so, same design though). Last spring I was leaning toward the GMPP combo (I don't remember exactly why though :D)
In my case (on a relatively stock 350) I found a pr. of used Vortecs (complete and checked for cracks) for around $250 pr. Complete swap, Intake, cam, gaskets, bolts, fluids, etc was about $700. You don't think about it, but a tube of sealer, couple gaskets, case of oil and other items add up quick.

Unless altered for guideplates of somesort, the Vortecs all will require self-aligning rockers & different pushrods if not being installed on a factory roller lifter & with factory rockers. Lorne
