-
or should i just fix the ten bolt ? thanx
-
Just fix the 10 bolt
-
Fix the 10bolt.
-
or find a 14 bolt out of a 3/4 or 1 ton
-
thanx for all the replys i take it you's don't really like HO72's i have heard that they were the same as the 14 bolts and they were pretty good but i think i'll fix my 10bolt the other one has 509 gears in it

or find a 14 bolt out of a 3/4 or 1 ton
If you go with a 14 bolt get it out of a 3/4 ton. The spring perches are in a different place on the 1 ton.

ok i got a 12 bolt givin to me in good shape so i'm gonna start putting it in tomorow now the only question i have is will the drive shaft u-joint from my ten bolt goning to fit the 12 bolt ? i heard i have to buy a special u-joint for it to work ???
-
i know it is not the same but on my 98 Z71 i swapped in a 6 lug 14 bolt after i blew up my 10 bolt. and i was told the same thing about the ujoint, however when i brought it to the driveline place they told me they don't make those ujoints anymore. so they took my old driveshaft and welded a bigger yoke on the end of it. after it was re-tubed, welded, and balanced, it ended up costing alot more than i wanted to spend. oh well it was worth it in the end.
-
they still make those hybrid U-joints. I think they were just after your money, how much did they hit you up for the shaft?
-
well i went in there with all my research and showed him articles i printed online and i measured my yoke and had the part number for the ujoint i needed and he knew what i was talking about and he still said they can't get them. and i didn't feel like waiting or driving 5 hours to get another opinion. make a long story short, for my "one of a kind custom shaft" they charged me 400 bones
-
i was told i can order from nappa (a local parts store here) for $40 i will call tomorow and find out
-
get u a 14 bolt
-
would love to but for now i have this 12 bolt that was givin to me and i need wheels lol i will look for one in the summer
-
yeah napa might have them. i just took my shaft to pat's driveline which is a popular driveline place here in canada. i dont know if you have them in the states but anyway i just expected them to either have one or know of one. but make sure you measure your yoke on your shaft and carrier so you get the right one.
-
ya i have heard of pats drive line im not to far from T.O
-
well i checked the gears in the 12 bolt they are 2.41's and the gears from the 10 bolt are 3.73's so i geuss i'm changing the front axle to ::)
-
Are you sure you counted right? I wouldn't change to a ratio like that.
-
ya i looked at the stamp on the crown gear from the 12 bolt 41-17 (2.41) and the 10 bolt was 41-11 (3.73) i don't wanna go to the 2.41's but money a little short right now to be buying a set of gears for the rear to mach the front

ok now my truck has 1/2 ton springs in it and the axles came with a 4 inch lift. springs up front and a block in the rear. now i aslo have the springs for the back wich are 3/4 ton will the 1/2 ton springs be ok with the block or will i have a lot of axle wrap or should i put the other springs in the rear
