Title: Voodoo or bracket master II
Post by: Layne on December 26, 2009, 11:47:03 pm
Well, lunati wont get back to me on my cam selection. For my 305, They told me to get- http://www.jegs.com/i/Lunati/638/00016LK/10001/-1
I liked it, but I'd like a voodoo. Heres what I narrowed down to- http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/KeywordSearchCmd?storeId=10001&catalogId=10002&langId=-1&N=1523854+1010707+4294965194+4294963872+3009773&Ne=3009772&redirect=false&searchType=KeywordSearch
It's a sb 400, eddie 650 carb, underdrive pulleys, msd ignition, nascar rpm air gap, stock heads, 700r4 and I don't know my rear end.
Any opinions would be appreciated. A Voodoo would be awesome, but this is my summer daily driver and I'd like a little bit of a lope. Oh yeah, I'd like to retain my power brakes. Thanks guys

Tell us more about your set up. Gear ratio, engine set up, trans, 2 or 4wd?

I don't know my rear gear- She was screaming at 55 with the three on the tree. I think now it's more around 2300 rpm. This is my daily driver/ burnout machine. My 700 has corvette servos, HD sun/ring gear, B$M transpak, and B$M holeshot 2400 torque convertor. My 400's pretty much stock on the inside. It's a 2wd.

It's a 400- Eddie RPM air gap nascar edition, 1406 carb, Hooker super comps, glasspacks, serpentine system with underdrive pulleys, msd ign, electric fan, stock heads. Pretty much a stocker except for the intake and headers. Sorry for the confusion.

to find you rear gear ratio, jack your truck up, make a mark on the rear wheel, then spin the wheel 1 complete revolution, watch the driveshaft and count how many revolutions it makes. if it spins 3x's you have approx 3.00, 4xs=4.00 etc, 3.5x's=3.50, it won't be perfect but you can guestimate a partial revolution to get close to ratio.  ooh yeah, don;t forget to mark an easily seeable mark on the driveshaft.

My trucks still at the trans shop. I'm getting prepped for this spring. I've been meaning to do this for a while, but it always slips my mind. If it's really important, I can call the shop and see if they can get it for me.

Man, this trans shop is irritating me. He still hasn't check my ratio, and come to find out, all my stuff out of my cracked 700 doesn't work in this new case he put it in. No reverse. What is the max lift on a stock 400 head? All I know is it's a 77 block out of a K30. Bone stock. I heard it's around .480? I was considering this- http://www.jegs.com/i/Lunati/638/60101LK/10002/-1?parentProductId=756547
Should I invest in some valve springs? I have everything I need except cam and lifters. New stock p-rods, gear drive, roller tip rockers, and a new cover.
