Title: Hmmmm.....
Post by: 78 Chevyrado on December 27, 2009, 02:34:15 pm
I noticed a car today with this tag on it :-\

I always thought it was supposed to go "NO taxation without representation"...   oh well silly me.  Now I understand completely.  How Ironic it's on the D.C. tags.

DC gets taxed but have no Senators or Congress people.
so they get to pay for all the pork and stuff we need without a voice pretty sad if you ask me

if you ask me its kind of ironic that a states government would let a state say there government sucks cause they have no one to represent them

That just seems wrong on all levels.  That phrase shouldn't be on anything period in this government.  but as to the people who live there not having any representatives, they understand it and accept it so thats fine, but IMO if they can't have representatives, etc. no one should be allowed to reside or work there, outside of government facilities.  Still just the fact that phrase exists on anything provided by this government is highly disturbing all by itself.  My cousin lives there now (her hubby is in the air force) and she said those tags irritate her every time she goes out.  So wrong, so wrong.

Well, they have a Mayor.  And, the Mayor they elect either is caught on FBI tape snorttin cocaine with prositutes, or, thinks he has a deep check book courtesy of the U.S. Govt and therefore the Senate took all power from the Mayor.  So, the position is like the royalty in England, no power, just a symbol.  The Federal govt' makes all decisions for the "District' Of Columbia....it is not a state, nor did our fathers intend it to be a state.  It has been like that for over 200 years since Mr. Adams moved there in that red brick house.  (it only became white after the war of 1812 --painted to cover the burn suit marks).

Any way, point is, all current citizens moved there since 1800 I beleive.  I don't beleive anyone there is over 200 years old.  So they knew about the district (not state) before they moved there, yet they still moved there.  I have no sympathy.  We have 50 states, not 51.  We have 100 Senators, not 102----for a reason.  It is the District of Columbia.
