hi fellas im in the process of buying a 84 c10 stepside 305ci, 3sp automatic,that i am slowly going to fix up while at school at NTI. i am looking to buy a new carburetor, intake manifold and headers for the truck before i have to drive to north carolina for school. i was looking at the 600 cfm summit carb vac. secondaries and vac. choke. will 600 do it for a stock 305? and the intake im thinking a weind action plus manifold will work and the hedman street tork step headers with flowmasters. i figure this will a be a decent combo to get good mpg's from the little 305. any ideas??

600cfm is plenty for a stock 305. It is a q-jet or something with small primaries, if not it is going to hurt you mileage for everyday driving.

ohhh and another question sorry to vear away from the topic, but a friend of mine has a new tci turbo 350 thats never been in anything. i think its just the sizzler trans (i belive thats what tci calls it.)holds up to 300 hp. but the trans has been sitting for around 2 years. he wants 500 for it, which isnt bad considering they are 750 new. ill change the fluid in it, but should i change the filter along with it since its been sitting?? or anything else i need to investigate before i install it and drive it?

I would change the front seal, look for metal in the pan when you change the fluid and probably some other stuff. I'm not too familiar with any auto trans.

The fact that it's been sitting around for 2 yrs makes it worth less than $500 to me.
That summit carb could be really nice. It is based on the Holley 4010, which was a good performing carb that was never accepted by hardcore 4150/4160 fans and thus discontinued. But it is supposed to be just as capable and it comes with annular style boosters which are vastly superior to straight leg in terms of atomization per given vacuum signal.
