What's wrong with me? K10 with supposedly no rot and a short bed. I'm going to regret this.
-
He who dies with the most toys wins! ;D
-
Never go wrong with a short bed.
-
Did you get it?
-
Its called SBS (SQUARE BODY SICKNESS) or (SQUARE BODY SYNDROME)..
thanks

thanks
pat
p.s. we need pics here man..
-
Will get pix. I'm goin to get it today. The cab corners and rockers are solid. The bed is mint. He was right no rot. He sold the engine, wheels and tires (desperate for cash) So I'm gonna go chuck some wheels on it and put in a steering shaft. Right now it's got a TH350 and a 203 I believe which I will not be using. The other thing is this truck used to be a stick and the clutch pedal is still there. I have a few 700R4's and 208's kickin around that I rebuilt so I guess I'll build that roller motor and put that driveline in it. It's got 3.73's but there's a spool in the rear so that's gotta come out. The front bumper, rf fender and rh door are dented otherwise the truck is straight.
-
Year, color ??
-
You keep this up man your gonna have me itching to build a 4x4 next. I got a pair of NOS front fender marker lights i will need to put them on. Looks like i may need to find them a truck to put them on loll...
ttyl

lol, that's why my mutt project started. I needed something to put the bed from my 74 on...
Anyway I went and got it and it's at the shop now. I took two pics with my cell phone but there is No rot on this thing not even surface rust! I got it with no motor or wheels and tires. I threw a set of tires and wheels on it I had upstairs in my garage. I think those hurricanes I have would look good on this thing. I had to put a steering shaft in it because the guy I bought it from stole it for his truck. Luckily I have 3 of everything lol so here it is.

Nice! I like those rims on it, but the others are nice too.
-
i don't know why someone would've started stripping that nice truck of its engine, wheels, steering column when the truck is such nice condition. Sure he may have needed the money, but, it is so much harder to sell a stripped truck, and for so much less money----he didn't know you'd come along who has 3 of everything. :D
-
Sure looks good in the pictures. I'm sure it will be even nicer by the time you get finished with it.
-
Well I don't know other than he needed $$ But I rescued it! :D
And I will post up more pics when I get workin on it!
-
Mind if I ask how much lighter your wallet is?
-
Sweet looking truck.
-
Mind if I ask how much lighter your wallet is?
His wallet is as heavy as his foot on the accelerator pedal to the floor lol....
Sweet truck , glad to see you got it home and added another 1 to the fleet..
thanks
pat
-
I paid a g-note for it.
-
$1K for a solid shortbed 4x4 is a steal around here.
The cab alone is worth that.
I've got a spare visor if you need one.
-
I've got a spare visor if you need one.
Thats good Fitz LOL
-
Thats not a bad deal. About the same here in the midwest
-
I've got a spare visor if you need one.
lol
i bet he doesn't have 3 of those ;D
if he did, the first use of his new pickup would be to load the visors on it and send 'em to the junkyard.
-
LOL, I have one in my bathroom in my office. It's right next to the toilet where it belongs. I just bought another one today. 87 K10 short bed $100 bucks ;D
-
Geez vile check yourself into the shrink clinic lol...
thanks
pat

I just bought another one today. 87 K10 short bed $100 bucks ;D
Let me guess, it has a 350TBI,700R4,and a 208,basically everything you need to fix the 83?
If you could resist the urge to get carried away (as most projects do) you could have a rust free shortbed 4x4 for $1100 and your labor.
Can't wait to see this one get done.
-
It does however the trans is no good, and the engine is already promised to someone else. It has the 91 Suburban nose conversion done to it. I bought it for parts only.
-
I bought it for parts only.
Scrap is at $150 a ton so you can make some $$ once you strip it,sweet deal.
-
Luckily I have 3 of everything lol so here it is.
The truth comes out.
-
lol
-
Any pics of your $100 score?
-
It's a red K10 short bed with the 91 Suburban nose. I've already stripped it down to the bare cab and frame. I'm going to keep the vin plate and title. I will be cutting this one up with the torch and giving it to the scrap guy next week. Not much left to see lol
-
You've had it a WEEK and it's already stripped down? Man.....dude you must LIVE in your shop at all times away from work LOL
-
Well it's 12:30 at night and I just got home from work.... I went in at 6:30am :( I did however run the new fuel lines on the mutt and started the rebuild on the engine for this truck while I was there in between my busy day ;D
-
Time for an update:
The Engine block is ready and I will hopefully have the engine all put together soon. It's a 4 bolt main vortec roller 305 block .030" over. Vortec heads, air gap intake. It'll be carbureted with headers. I'm taking the Th400/205 out and replacing it with a 700R4/208. The truck has a spool in the rear so I'll be swapping axles also with a set of 3.42:1
-
Are you going to leave the lift in it? What size tires are you going to put on it?
-
I put 33"s on it
-
your my hero vile lol ;D looks like a super project cant wait to see it done
-
Engine is almost done. Lower end is all together and the heads should be back together next week. I'll post pix soon!
-
multi-tasker extraodinaire! ;D
-

-
Thats what color scheme my 83 k5 blazer was.Oh how i miss that rig...
thanks
pat
-
awesome....
-
Heads are done. Will get em bolted on tomorrow, gotta prime the pass door and firewall on my 74 despite my busted ribs! lol Thank God for percoset
-
Update:
Engine is almost done. I'm going to paint it tomorrow and then I just have to put the intake and the tins I'm using on it. I'm hoping to get the engine in this thing and up and running soon. I'll post pix and engine specs soon
-
I painted the engine yesterday. Decided to go black with this one. I used Bill Hirsch engine paint and this stuff seems pretty durable. First time using it (actually second) but first time for myself. http://www.hirschauto.com/
I need to paint the waterpump and do a few odds and ends but it's essentially done. Here's some specs and pics
It's a 99 roller vortec .030" over, 4 bolt, new crank, resized powdered metal rods, forged flat tops, Howards roller cam HRS-180235 Duration 270/280, Lift .488/.495, Vortec heads, mild porting, 30° back cut on the valves standard interference angle face and seat, PP 52027 Intake, old school new style valve covers, shorty headers and MSD ignition.
I built a 700R4 and 208 T-case to take the place of the th400/205 that's in there. I'm going to swap the axles with the 3.42's I have to replace the 3.07's and there's a spool in the rear ::)

Oooh, shiney.....lovin the valve covers
-
Got the truck in the shop last night and washed the engine compartment really good. Going to paint it today so I can get ready to drop the engine in.

Love the wheels!!!!
-
Just a quick update:
Drivetrain is all in and assembled. I should have it running this week. I'm making it a floor shift set up so I have to figure out what I'm going to put in. I'll post pix soon.
-
Looking great vile, are you going to keep the truck or what are your plans for it ?
-
I'll probably play with it a little bit and end up selling it. It doesn't fall into my master plan but I had to rescue it when I saw it.
-
It'll make a sweet rig for someone.
-
It's all GM sheet metal except for the front bed panel which I am replacing because it's bashed up pretty good.
-
I'd like to buy it and trade it to the guy who bought your M1008. Still kicking myself for not getting that one.
-
Update:
Axles are swapped out to 3.42:1 from 3:07, Drivetrain is all together, exhaust, fuel system, everything.... Well I just don't have the time to finish it. Seriously considering selling it as is and taking a beating. I got an offer for $3k which is stupid to take but in the interest of time I might just let it go.
-
i got offered 3500 for mine and it no where in as good of shape as this beautiful rig!
-
Yeah well, I'm one of the good guys. I brought another one back to life. It's charity yes but $ isn't everything
-

$ isn't everything, if more people would think about that phrase just some of the time, this world would be a better place.
-
I sold it for $3k but I feel good knowing the guy that bought it will finish it and I will get to hear it come back to life. This truck will be nice!
