Title: 5 speed question
Post by: 425hp87chevy on January 19, 2010, 05:48:55 pm
just to start I'm building an 85 Chevy 4x4 longbox. I want to if a 5 speed from an 88-98 Chevy bolt to any of the transfercase's that came in the 73-87's, if so which one? Because if they won't i plan to use the transfercase from the 88-98. I know the differential is on the opposite site side, but i can deal with that. If anyone can tell me if those Tran's will bolt to a right hand shaft transfercase, It would be  greatly appreciated because it would save me a hole lot of work. Thanks in advance!

Are you talking about the NV4500 trans or the NV3500 out of a 1/2T?
The NV4500 will bolt to a T-case, the others should, just can't guarantee it.

Just a thought but could you use a ford axle under the front to compensate for the transfer case being on the other side?

NV4500 came in 93-up 1 Ton pickups, the NP241 should bolt to it that came out of the late 90's R/V trucks, or you can get an adapter from Advance and put anything behind it.
