I am noticing a some shaking in my transfer case at low speed (10-20 MPH). Would bad front ujoints cause this. The only reason I am asking is because I think the joints are going bad.
-
what t case do you have?
-
NP 203 with part time conversion.......sorry, been a long day
-
well if you read one of my last post in "more snow" i also have the 203 with the kit tho but i was in 2hi if my hubs are locked it will make clucks and stuff and vibrate and in 4 lock it will do the same thing well today it broke up by the t case and the second joint not sure what failed but i see one joint just sitting in the shaft. i guess its just due to age but idk but like you said the u joint could and would cause that problem. and about your spline problem if you don't drive it that hard i don't see why 2" would hurt it but if you mud and drive it hard yeah i would like to see more
-
Thanks, I am gonna try the rear shaft as long as it holds. I dont do any major pullin or muddn so we will see how it goes
-
do you have the kit on your 203? if so you don't need the front to spin any
-
Yeah I do, the front shaft is free in unlock
-
U-joints can cause a vibration in the transfercase but when do you feel the vibration?
-
Low speeds mainly...I was doing it in 4HI but I also noticed it in 2HI. It seems to do it when the hubs are locked which is makin me think joints. I also just put a 4 inch lift in and there was a spot where it said to grind the stops on the CV joint. I didnt do it cuz it looked ok....maybe its hitting a bit. I am gonna start with the joints
-
well if it does it in 2hi it ain't the front joints since nothing spins with the kit. make sure it ain't the wheels, busted beads can do it too
-
You probably do need to clearance grind those ears
