Title: Best place to buy parts? I need a tank and some more stuff.
Post by: SatisTraction on February 09, 2010, 11:28:53 pm
I am about to restore my 85 C10 to modern day specs. i have bought a LQ9 / 4l60e and i am about to tear into it. I need to know some of the better parts suppliers and i also want to know which ones to avoid!!

Right now i need a 87 SWB tank, sending unit, fuel lines, dash, black interior parts, body bushings, suspension parts, etc. I need to get it all on order today :)

here are some of my rides. the C10 was bought new by my grandfather in 84. I learned to drive in it. He gave it to me in 1998 just before he passed away. at the time it had been sitting up for a few years. I was in the navy and came home on leave. I aired up the tires, put a new battery in it, washed and waxed it and set it out for him to see. He was proud of it. It is the only vehicle that i will never sell.

the site you are on only sells quality parts.  If I don't have what you are looking for I can tell you were to get good stuff from and where to avoid.

I need all the door seals, cowl to hood seal, windshield rubber, runs for the door glass.  Chris is currently back ordered and doesn't know when they'll be in.  I'd like made in USA if I can get it.  Good quality and fit is more important than price.

Mostly due to the fact that we had people on here seemingly promoting them which no one has a problem with if they are paying supporters of the website but it got to the point where people were coming on here with 1 or 2 posts saying buy it from --- before helping support this website. You have to be very careful what you get from them also. Many of the products they sell are great but I've had to return so many items from there it's ridiculous. No one is saying you can't use them but chris put a temporary ban on the word. Not sure if and when he will unban it

From what I've seen this site beats them on prices and everyone here knows the support from here is one-of-a-kind.  I can't imagine not checking here first anyway.  As far as censorship of the word goes--I can see it.  The other place is kinda like going to Wal-Mart instead of supporting your local grocer.

I agree, if we use this site for free help and information, we should support it.  I checked this site and when i couldn't find what i needed I PM'ed Chris just make sure I didn't overlook them.  This is the best site for our trucks and the only one I read.  I will always check here for my truck needs first.  BTW Vile, i did check Rock after you mentioned them, their prices are mostly cheaper and if you read the fine print, most of their items are made in USA, what isn't is marked import.  Thanks again Chris for a great site!!

Companies that I will buy from I will list especially if I don't have the parts.  I would never recommend anyone get something from somewhere I wouldn't buy from.
