I've had this idea rattling around in my noodle for a while, I'd love to see a blazer with a solid top and suburban barn doors.
No way I try and plan it is any sort of easy, but I think it'd be awesome, kinda like a Tahoe sort of thing.
Any thoughts??

Didn't Hill's Hot Rod shop in texas do that ???
-
Hills had a burb top grafted on along with the tailgate and window.
-
I'd to see it with the barn doors, I'm thinking that shortening a suburban would be a little easier than grafting the tops
-
Problem with a Burb is you have rear doors there you have to compensate for structure.
-
Absolutely, you would. I was thinking about formed support plates similar to the ones for the Hood. My idea involves removing the outer roof skin and adding such plates, then to the floor as well. Combine those with x members in the frame and it should be plenty strong.
Does anyone know where I can find a picture of Hill's hotrods rig? I didn't see it on the website.

Are you wanting to make a 2 door or 4 door Blazer? It sounds like a alot of work if you are going to do a 2 door since you can just graft in the rear of a burb.
Here is it when it was Blue

I want a two door blazer, but with barn doors, I just thought shortening a burb down to two doors would simplify this goal. Maybe grafting the tops would be less involved. This whole idea is still on the bench until I can come up with some shop space.

I am doing it right now

that looks good....my next project after my truck was going to be a 2wd blazer that
I was wanting to put solid non removal top on. Looks great.
-
that is really cool. but I would have done the dutch door style (like the Astro van) so you could keep the removeable top.
-
That is coming out sweet! Have you done a build thread on it? I'd love to pick your brain on the graft when its all said and done.
-
Dutch door style? It's like this?
