We moved out of a bad part of town to a quiet dead end street on the edge of town. No one messed with us in the bad part. What can I do? I just spent all my tax refund fixing this thing. I just now got back to work so I dropped my insurance because I couldn't afford it being laid off. The police have no leads, except for some punks in black hoodies who got a car a street across from us.

It's obviously 14-16 year old kids or an enemy and not a thief. Time to load the slugger and start rockin the night vision camera.
-
My niece's car got all the windows smashed out of it the other night, along with damage to a bunch of other cars. She is the one her husband just deployed, plus they just had a baby about two months ago.

Hoodlums. I hope the same is done to them when they are older and have a family and realize money doesn't grow on trees.
Many homeowners insurance policies will accept a claim of vandalism on the property (land) that is insured. If you rent, some renters insurance will do the same. Also, it may be advisable to check landord's insurance policy as well if you rent.
It may be a good time to look at revising insurance policies if it is not covered on homeowners.
and invest in some deer hunting-motion activated cameras.
I have flood lights all around my house with motion sensors. Never had any problems like that in 19 yrs living here. Of course, If i walk in my back yard or driveway at night, everything lights up like it was the middle of the day. ;D
And, my Golden Retriever let's us know if he hears anything outside.
-
Yeah I live out in the country, Most of the young adults are friends with me, and have passed on the fact to the kids around they might get to look down the barrel of my Glock, or a Harington Richards 16 gage pump shot gun if they mess with my stuff. Have never had any major problems. ;D
-
i live out on a dirt road every now and then a mail box gets smashed or run over, then every once in a blue moon some drunk will drive up onto the farm and go to the bath room by one of my uncles houses. get this part his daughter saw him and didn't say anything she just went back to bed shes about 16. but after that they drove across the field and park their van in the barn left the lights on and the driver passed out grand parents called my father in law (i was at work) he ran out there only to find the drive since the others took off on foot he got his Remington and dint take the sights off the drunk driver till the cops showed up.
-
they might get to look down the barrel of my Glock,
Amen, Brother! Ofcourse the libs want to take that from us so the only ones with guns will be the criminals. Yeah, that's smart.
Also, if it comes to you actually using a Glock or equivalent, (what am I thinking, there is no equivalent to Glock, my bad--i've got one on my side as i type this Glock 23) you better have your story straight---that you thought you saw a gun on the other person, or he reached into his jacket quickly, or whatever, so you won't spend the rest of your life behind bars. Defending property alone with the USE of deadly force (not the show of) is a definate no-no. However, defending your or your family's life with deadly force is just fine as long as you can tell the DA you thought you saw a gun/weapon.
-
You feared for your life is what my lawyer told me years back when i was arrested for pulling a gun on three dirt bags. Model 17 is whats on my side.
-
i have two Glock model 17's--outstanding!!! 9mm with 17 round mags..oh yeah! the thing about my .40 cal Glock 23 is the mag is only a 13 rounder.
Anyway, yes, fear of your life, or harm. That is the catch all. Of course, it really doesn't matter too much if you display a weapon "as defense" when responding to an incident...simply being outnumbered is justification for having a weapon present. You can't honestly wait to get shot, or beat up, then go get your gun--even though you can't tell politicians, whose never worked in law enforcement, that. It's when you actually use the weapon is when your story must be bullet-proof (pun intended)
But, also keep in mind, that when responding to a situation with a weapon, the mere fact that you are displaying a weapon could be seen as you being the "agressor". So, the hoodlums can get off scott free if they shoot you--even though they are the ones breaking the law. I've seen it happen where the hoodlums get off from the attempted murder charge because they were acting in self-defense when they see the property owner with the gun. They still are convicted on the lesser charge of whatever crime they were in the middle of, and, a possession of a weapon charge, but not guilty on attempted murder--they (the criminals) claim self defense. Moral of the story, take your weapon, but, be ready for any consequences that may result. And remember, dead people can't testify against you ;D

17 rounds are pretty good odds in ones favor! My father always told us the same, dead dirt bags don't talk, so they can't lie! He was also said if they are inside the house, shoot first ask questions later! Growing up all of us kids, and my mother knew where the 38 revolver with numbers filed off was hidden. If you had to take care of business, and the scum bag didn't bring his own gun, he was to be given that one! My old man was the toughest man I ever knew, or will ever know. He grew up in the 20's & 30's on the streets of Baltimore M.D. He didn't take any crap from anyone. Back then you could get away with giving an idiot an education, and not get arrested for it!
The one time I pulled my Glock on three known scumbags, one of which was wanted out of Louisiana for a list as long as my arm. I was charged with assault with a deadly weapon. At the time the chief of police in town, and I didn't see eye to eye on many levels. He pushed the state police to persue charges. The day before my trial I got a letter in the mail saying no indictment sought, insufficient evidence of a crime. The night of the incident the fugitive was arrested, and was supposed to be held for extradition. The next day the moron judge let him go into the custody of the mother of the other two dirt bags from that night for $100 cash bail! The two brothers didn't get into trouble as one was a minor, the other one was on probation, and his mother swore up and down to the chief that he was not around that night. That it was her boyfriend that was there. My best friend who got the crap beat out of him on his own front porch by the fugitive was also charged a few weeks later the same day I was arrested for mutual combat. The reason I didn't mix it up with the two brothers is the older one that was on probation had just got out of the hospital the day before after a truck rollover. He had only been awake after being unconscious for two weeks for four days. Still had stitches from the top of his head to his collar bone area. I figured if I punched him I would end up on manslaughter charges or something along those lines. The other reason is he reached inside his coat. Probably for a knife, but could have been a gun?? I will never know! I know one thing, the whole bunch of that scummer family will cross the street now to avoid me to this day, its been 11 plus years! ;D
-
i'd say you got your point accross. :D
-
Yeah, I still meet people to this day that ask aren't you the one that blah blah blah? LOL
-
In Florida even a felon has a right to defend himself in a public place, the felon would be charged with illegal firearms poss. by felon, but not for the act of defense. The other great thing is that self defense includes you and anybody within 10 feet of you.

We had issues with our neighbors but they moved three months ago. I filed a claim with my homeowners insurance so hopefully we can address this. I've got some burnout tires on there now, but it sure is a cold ride lol. Mandy won't let me bring my guns from my parents because of the kids. DCFS is our neighbor- I mean they're right on top of us. I park there sometimes. They gotta have cameras. My truck was in the street in front of my place so hopefully my insurance will cover it. If the police find out who it was- which they probably won't- I'm suing for my time, the jack I had to buy, my NEW tires that have 15 miles on them, my newer tires on they citation, windows, and just generally because the irritated me. This stinks, guys. Glad I got a place to vent though :)
-
We never lock the doors either. Good thing my pitbull and rotts were in the house and not the backyard. Being from the country, and having to start out in town, it's a little rough not trusting your neighbors anymore.
-
I lock my doors when ever I leave the house. Everyone calls me paranoid, I figure better safe than sorry. Plus I don't want to have to bust up the door to make it look like it was locked if someone did steal something for my insurance! Also if they want my stuff bad enough they need to work for it!
-
Right! I don't think they wanted anything as my tach is still there and some other valuable things are still inside.

Virginia is looking to pass the Castle Doctrine. Anyone familiar with that? Some states have it where you can use deadly force and have no fear of any lawsuits, civil or criminal, if one trespasses in your house, car, etc...
A Castle Doctrine (also known as a Castle Law or a Defense of Habitation Law) is an American legal doctrine that arose from English Common Law[1] that designates one's place of residence (or, in some states, any place legally occupied, such as one's car or place of work) as a place in which one enjoys protection from illegal trespassing and violent attack. It then goes on to give a person the legal right to use deadly force to defend that place (his/her "castle"), and/or any other innocent persons legally inside it, from violent attack or an intrusion which may lead to violent attack. In a legal context, therefore, use of deadly force which actually results in death may be defended as justifiable homicide under the Castle Doctrine.

Just got off the phone with the police. Our prime suspect said, and I quote "I have more important things to worry about than mess with his truck." They personally know this guy to be a trouble maker. I think he's the ringleader.
-
the thing is, does he have an alibi? run his prints, it may match something around the truck. I'd run an NCIC on him to see if he's wanted somewhere, which was probably already done when the cops questioned him.
-
I don't think he has one. I've never known him to do anything more than talk trash up the street at me. He's in his mid 30 I'd guess, but his thugs seem more like 18ish. He had the after school idiots hang out there before he moved. This one guy stayed with him for a whiled egged my truck and shoveled snow at it while I drove by is the only guy that did anything. I don't think anybody would really instigate stuff if he didn't influence them. Remember, he's they only guy that lived nearby me. If only I didn't tell him to stop screaming at my other neighbors when our kids were outside we wouldn't have an issue with him. I know I have a loud exhaust and listen to metallica too loud but tell me to stop, not scream obscurities at me so the whole neighborhood can hear. Just confront me if you have an issue, you know?
-
sounds like some issues in that neighborhood.
if a gang of juveniles hit your vehicles, you'd think they'd hit your neighbors too, unless.....they are friends. hmmmmm.....
-
Around here they only mess with people they know won't stand up to them face to face, or in court!
-
i used to be one of those never lock my door when i was a kid but after hearing about my grandparents story on the dirt road, about one day when they were woke up to a drunk couple that had just walked in the house and they thought they were home they didn't even live on that road
-
Buddy of mine got busted for that. He got trashed and walked home one night. He didn't make it that far. Went in a guys house, got naked and passed out on his couch! ::)
-
Buddy of mine
wink, wink, yeah, a buddy of yours? Some people speak of themselves in the 3rd person, wink, wink.
-
Nope, wasn't me, I don't drink enough to do something that idiotic! This guy is about 10 years younger then I, there was a group all about the same age 16 - 19 that used to hang out at my old shop all the time. He did this when he was about 24 or 25. He is nutty as an out house rat. He will try anything twice!
-
Good news guys! I haven't completely comdemned the human race yet. At O'reillys the other day, some people were asking about my truck, and long story short, I got a 93 std. cab for FREE and new windows installed for $25. I just need a ext. side window. I'm going to try to got to Buttita bros and see if they can replace my tires, as they're on a 90 day warranty. Think they cover slashings?
-
I know Tire Mart done here doesnt. I was working in Jacksonville, FL(about 2 hour drive one way) and one day on my back some ....... person shot out one of my tires while I was at a gas station and I wasn't covered.
-
My homeowners ins. doesn't cover dumb people beating up my vehicles >:( That guys kid broke his back glass, so instead of a cab I have 4 good 88-98 doors. so I've got spares. lol
