Title: dash harness
Post by: 85stepside on February 16, 2010, 07:53:11 pm
I have a 85 custom deluxe w/air. I can pick up a complete dash harness uncut out of a 85 gmc 3/4 that is fully loaded. My question is how hard would it be to swap the harness.  And is it worth it? The harness is free, just trading things i don't need. Any input would be great.

I just swapped one out of a 73 custom for a 74 custom, the 73 was fryed, it wasn't to hard just took my time and looked at schematics. I got my schematics off of this website were on and they were the best I could find.

Why do you want to change it?

Vilezambonie' I  would just like to have pw/pl/cruse and tilt wheel. Plus i have 4 Great Danes that like to ride . Mainly i just like the opps. The harnss thats in the truck is still good.

Keep in mind you'll have to make holes in your doors to run the jumper harness. It shouldn't take you more than 2 hours if you're mechanically inclined.

Vilezambonie' Thanks for the info. I have a pair of doors that already have pw/pl in them that are not on the truck. So thats not a big deal And I plan on getting it painted in a few mounths anyway.  I have been a diesel fleet mechanic for 10 years Just never tried to swap a complete harness over.
