Title: Assistance with installing my tv cable
Post by: droe71 on February 23, 2010, 10:59:58 am
First off I have a Th 350 on a 305 87-91 motor. The valve covers have the 4 bolts on top.

I have found my tv cable and I know what slot it goes to but How do I connect it to where I know it belongs. Is there a kit I can buy for it? I have attached a couple of pics of what I am talking about.

That would be Cable TV  ;D

from my 79 when i tore the motor out---a little different than your's.   When i have a problem with my vehicle and trying to see how something is hooked up, i visit the nearby salvage yard w/ my digital camera.

It's called a detent cable. It looks identical to the TV cable found on many transmissions but it doesn't have the same operating characteristics. Put the detent cable in the bracket. Pull the tear drop shaped plastic end past the nub on the carb and hook it in. Adjust the cable by depressing the tab to fully release the cable and push the plastic piece towards the firewall. sit in the truck and push the pedal to the metal (engine off of course). that should give you your preliminary adjustment.

BTW, if the end of yours is broken you can buy the repair kit
