Title: Upside down steering wheel
Post by: Squatch427 on February 23, 2010, 07:57:12 pm
How would you fix this. I talked to a friend about filpping it at the rag joint on the box but the bolts are two different sizes. he said some this about flipping it at the shaft? And you cant just remove the wheel and flip it(pulled it already and had to put it all back together). oh and if this helps its a 87 column in a 76 cab.

I didn't think you could get that much out of the drag link. I'll have to adjust it and see.

I was told to shorten one tie rod and lengthen the other side an equal amount to get it straight.

Why is your steering wheel upside down to begin with? If its a 4x4 just loosent he pinch clamps on the drag link (the two tie rods and sleeve that connect the steering arm to the pitman arm) and it will adjust steering wheel position.

Thanks for all the help. I noticed the drag link on the steering box side had a lot of slop so we replaced it. And while we where down there we adjusted the drag link so the wheel was rightside up. Yay killed to birds with one stone. And it didn't seem to hurt the turning radius any. thats what i really worried about with adjusting it at the drag link.
