The hood on my 79 sierra grande was sticking up above the fenders probably 2 inches back by the windshield. I know my hinges probably need replaced, but this took about 10 minutes to fix.
I unbolted the front hinge to hood bolts and put a few thick washers between the hood and hinge. I had to use longer bolts, but now my hood is almost even with the fenders.
"If you loosen the FRONT bolt on the hood (where it bolts to the hinge) and put a shim, or washer between the hood and hinge, this will LOWER the hood on that side. If you put that same washer under the rear bolt it will RAISE the rear of the hood on that side."

Hey in these times we have to find creative ways to fix issues. I lose sleep at night (I know it's something we have to live with on the square bodies) on things like body alignment. I wonder if the washer fix stands out? Got pics?
-
I just ordered a new set of hinges, they're cheap enough. For something that's not going to be a show piece I would just repair them with a shoulder bolt.
-
going to have to try that. If it doesn't work; Vile where did you find hinges?
-
Lot's of company's sell them. I don't think Chris has them so here's one

Yes I can get them. I am a distributor for Goodmark, but those are backordered. I can get anything Goodmark sells.

I can get some pics this weekend sometime. I will eventually get new hinges, but this is a quick fix to get the truck looking better.
-
Chris let me know if you get them in the catalog. I'm probably going to order 2 sets.
-
cool, also let me know when you get them in
-
I will check the arrival date. BTW, if it is on Goodmarks website I can get it. No matter what year models Ford Dodge Chevy.
If you email me what part number you are looking for I can get it.
Same goes for every Vendor listed on this page:

That's still up too high. The other thing you have to be very careful about is the fact that you don't have the support. These hoods are notorious for bending in half if they aren't properly supported. 123pugsy redid his hinges and posted about it I believe.
-
X2 on bending the hood. I have braces and it still is slightly bent. Make sure you lube the hinges very well. I did and it made a world of difference. Now I dont have to worry about bending the hood when closing it.

This is the post but his pics were dropped..

Yeah its still too high, but looks a lot better. I took the hinges off and cleaned and lubed them, the hood is easy to close.
If my hood is already a little bent will those supports straighten it back out? Is there any pictures of those supports so I can see what they look like and where they go?

Lol check out the last pic in my build thread. My hood's terrible!

I dont have a pic, but they are just strips of metal that go in between the hinge bracket and the hood. It wont straighten out your hood, but it might prevent it from bending even more. You can google for pics.
