BOUGHT NEW OAK WOOD FOR MY STEP SIDE . WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT IS BEST TO PUT ON IT TO MAKE IT LAST AND LOOK GOOD. I WANT TO KEEP THE NATURAL COLOR.

Hi, I have a 85 step side w/ the oak floor. And I used wood deck water seal stain. As for keeping the natural color. Look at the natural color or a light honey gold. Get a couple small scrap peices of oak to try it out on. Then you can shellac it for a really shiny look.Just IMO. I stained mine w/ toner honey gold 2-3 coats and then 3 coats of shellac. Haven't installed yet.If you want I can try to get pics of them for you. Thay just won't be installed.

Look at my post I just posted last week in the body section. I mentioned the sealer I used.

hello my son and i used six coats of poly, sanded between each then put three coats of sherwin williams clear auto paint on for the uv protection, it looks great

Deft polyurethane. 10+ years in the weather on 3 coats, and it will look like new, only thing you'll notice is the surface will feel a little rough after a few years.
