Title: Check out this BAD BOY Chevy 4x4.
Post by: Engineer on March 06, 2010, 09:11:05 pm
Took these pics at the fire station where we bought the bed for my son's old '79 K-30.

Other than the 6.5L TD this could be one awesome truck. Furd, and Dogde could only dream about building trucks this tough.

Swap in a Duramax/Allison, or a 4-valve P-pump Cummins/Allison, and you would have a beast:

It's cool that they gave you a good deal on the bed. A Vol. Fire Dept around here Had a CUCV they did a 12 volt conversion on and they wanted $100 for the old 24V starter. Seemed high to me.

I checked with an auto electric shop and they said it would cost $150 to rebuild one. I'm not having any problems now, just planning ahead. I just picked up a parts truck, a rotted out M1009 for $500 that I will strip for parts to be prepared for the future.
