I might be overworking my wife's 2001 2500HD a little.......He he.
Her truck has the 6.0L gasser, and it's max GCWR is 16,000#.
In this photo the trailer weighs 15,000#. That is with 5.25 tons of chat/rock. Total GCW was 21,000. :o
Truck had no trouble running 60mph in O/D with the cruise set even up a few slight grades. Only kicked down into D on one grade. :D
IMHO, Chevy way underrates the towing ability of their trucks.
Am I crazy or what? ;D

nah, with a gooseneck, put another 15k on there and you're starting to approach a full load.
-
Exactly why it did so well. The goosneck spreads the weight over the entire truck instead of just the rear. However buddy, have a little mercy on that trans. Tow in D, not OD. You'll thank me for that tip later. I promise. Thanks for sharing though, I like to hear this kind of stuff.

Always been my opinion to worry about stopping a load more than hauling it!! ;D

Thats no lie !!! I'd image that gooseneck was set up with its own brakes, and hopefully OP had a controller hooked up.

haha thats awsome. those 4l80e's are strong though. my buddy pulled my 6000lb yukon xl with a short yukon and never had a bit of problem it was well at the max towing capacity with trailer.

Not only does my gooseneck have brakes on all 4 wheels, but I do something that VERY FEW owners of trailers with electric brakes does.....I regularly adjust my trailer brakes.
I also have a Prodigy controller installed, so stopping is good. :)

If it was a ford it wouldve broke... ha ha that truck dont even look to be squatting BOWTIE POWER!!

Where can you find GCWR?
-
Stewart, in the January issue of Trailer Life magazine, also online at www.trailerlife.com, they give a yearly report on GCWR of new trucks.

If you want it to last Don't be towing in overdrive.
