So i just swaped engines and trannys in my truck. I had a 700r4 and replaced it with a turbo 350 because it was rebuilt. I didnt know i was putting in a diffrent tranny. I just wanted to get opinons on the transmisson. " the motor in my truck is a mild built 350" Did i make a mistake ???
-
What do you mean you didn't know? Most people would consider this a backwards move.
-
I guess i should explain better. I didnt make sure i just asumed they where the same. I put the 350 in because it had been rebuilt. The 700r4 is an 85 and has 175k on it i dont know if it has been rebuilt or not but it shifted fine. I just put in the transmisson that i knew was fresh. know further looking into it i think i might want the 4 speed because it is my daily driver. But ive heard pre 88's have trouble??? I just wanted some opinons

So the "new" trans just bolted in with no driveshaft issues? What about the kickdown cable? Speedometer works ok?
-
Yea speedo works. I dont know aboout the kickdown i have to adjust it but i think it should be ok. The turbo 350 came out of a 84 k5 and my truck is an 85 k10 they both had np208's. Shouldnt everything be ok???
-
anyone know if this should have bolted up fine????
-
It will bolt up with no major issues. Didn't you already install it? What issues are you having with it now? Hook up the detent cable just like you had your TV cable.
-
yea everything seems fine havent ran it too much tho. How much better gas mileage could i expect if i went back to the 700r4???
-
what is your final drive ratio? What size tires are you running?
-
i am about to put 33''s on it. I am in the middle of a build and i think i am switching axles also. Im guessing the gears are 3.73
-
You would see a noticeable difference with the 700R4 if you drive over 45
