I have a 85 K10 stepside 355 sm465 with a 208 T-case. My question is about the ..ESC..unit. My truck came factory with a 305 and long since gone. does this unit controll anything in the truck now? the truck has Mallory ignition now, and just about all the wires have been cut. There are a couple of wires still going places, maybe two them and a ground. Would it be OK to just go ahead and get rid of this unit? Does the..ESC..control any of my factory gauges?
Thanks in advance.

ESC controls the stock distributor and did it poorly. If it is gone there is no need for it. In fact I would bypass it anyway even if it was working.
-
How do you bypass it or do you just replace the distributer? Ive replaced the distributer in the past, but have several of these distributors laying around if theres a way to bypass it.

That's what I was hoping to hear! Thank's "Capt"

Are you talking about the ESC distributor? The esc module? Or are you referring to the ECM? Because the early ECM controlled your emissions components and tcc lock up.

Talking about the (ESC) Module and Distributor. Mine has been changed over to standard..HEI..and all the Emissions and AC are long gone. The stock 305 has been replaced with a 355. I'm pretty much having to rewire the whole darn truck, so I'm cleaning up and getting rid of anything that isn't of use anymore.

What trans do you have? And is your ESC module mounted on the intake manifold?
