Post by: frickenbored on March 19, 2010, 10:29:51 pm
Has anyone used Royal Purple's Max ATF?  I was wondering if its safe to use in my th400 that calls for dexron II.

Why do you want to? Dexron III will work fine for your TH400 for pretty much anything it can handle.

after replacing the 700r4 on my 1985 k10 turbo diesel for the second time, i switched to royal purple atf, i also run RP engine oil and in the transfer case. the royal purple ats works great, it's been about two years now and the transmission shifts great, and no problems. royal purple claims that it will allow the transmission to run cooler and while i have no way of measuring it, (no temp gauge) i can tell you that my diesel runs about 20 degrees cooler and we have never noticed any heat from the transmission.  i strongly recommend Royal Purple products. (i would also run rp in the differentials but we have limited slip f/r and royal purple is too slippery to use)

running rp also help increase hp and mph.

I might put it to the test, I have a temp gauge on my trans so I'll try both regular dexron III and then royal purple.
