Something happened with our camera/memory card or someone accidentally erased the vids, so all I have is a short video of me racing that BBC Camaro that I told you guys about. He has all the good stuff in his ride and he's been showing me all his cool parts for months now and telling me how his car would smoke my truck. I raced him twice and the second race was worse than the first. I think his fastest time of the day was 12.6 or something like that.
My third race was against a 2009 Camaro SS with bolt-ons. Those cars are quick...I saw him racing earlier in the day so I knew it wasn't gonna be an easy win. We lined up and I beat him pretty decent I guess(my windows are blacked out so I can't see behind me. Spectators said it looked like I beat him by almost half a track.
My fourth race was against a 96 Saleen mustang with a built 306 with nitrous with all the mods you can think of for drivetrain and suspension. He can hook in wet dirt. Everybody bragged and drooled over this guy's launch and they all said nobody could touch him off the line. I don't know if ya'll remember my story about my buddy's 81 C10 with that built 406? Anyway when they raced, the C10 would lose to this guy by a car or two. So I was expecting to lose to him by about 3 or cars. We lined up and not only did I smoke him off the line, I beat him by 4+ cars. After the race he was saying that I had a stroker or something else in my truck and that I was lying about what I had. ::) He claims he didn't spray, but I don't know. I really didn't care...I beat him anyway.
My last race was against one of my nitrous customers. He has a notch back mustang with a 306 on nitrous. He DID spray. Like I said, I can't see behind me so I don't know how bad I beat him, but I was told it was by bus lengths. When he stopped by to pick up some nitrous, he was looking over my truck and telling me what he didn't like about some of the things I was doing to it. He mainly didn't like my blocked grille and I guess it hurt my feelings a little. So I was out to get some payback and show him how well that blocked grille actually worked. LOL. He's a cool guy though.
Overall, I'm happy with my truck.

Awesome! Man you sure did a good job at making that truck quick, on a cheap budget and with simple parts. Nicely done. Let's see some updated pics with the grille and all that. So what is your launch procedure then?
-
Thanks. I'll snap some new pics when the rain stops. I was stalling the truck up between 1500 and 2000rpms and rolling into it on green. I noticed throughout the day that I could get on it more and more without breaking the tires loose. I may try my 2 step next time I go out there. I've read that if I stall it up to 2500 and smash it off the line, it'll launch like never before(assuming it hooks).
I'm really sorry about the crappy video. We had 4 other good ones, but somehow the camera formatted the disk before we could put them on the computer. I don't know if you can tell, but I was letting off in that video before I crossed the finish line. I don't know why, but I get nervous on the top end. My wife, daughter, brother-in-law, his girlfriend, and a bunch of my neighbors were out there. So I decided to "man up" and stay in it to through the finish line from then on.

I always thought it was funny when you beat someone in a race, and they come over and tell you whats wrong with your equipment.UUhhmmm, i think they are looking under the wrong hood. What time did you run?
-
That guy wasn't even close. And Nitrous and HP are a waste if you can't put every last bit of it into speed. Even a little bit of spin can cost you precious time. But you seem to have embraced that fact based on the whuppings delivered at the track, where REAL bragging rights are established. It's all just talk until you can back it up with a time slip. Nice job!

I ran an 11.84 which would be an 11.4 on any other track due to craziness of our airstrip(bad timing equipment, track is up hill, curves to the left). On average our track times are 3-4 tenths slower here than on a real track.

I got my hands on 2 of the videos from my neighbor, but I can't figure out how to get them on the computer. They're on some kind of mini-dvd, but it won't play in my computer(does play in the TV/DVD player though). I'll try to make a copy and figure it out later.
Guy that drove the red saleen told me to enjoy the video because that's last time I'll ever beat him...he's putting in a 331 stroker and he's gonna use the 300shot on me next time. Doesn't seem fair, but I ain't scared.LOL. I'm looking forward to it.
EDIT: Nobody has a program to rip stuff from mini-dvd's so I won't be able to post the videos. Next time we race will be on the 4th of July and I may not be winning any of those races since everybody wants to use nitrous against me after seeing how well I did.

I finally got to watch the vid. Looks like all your hard work paid off. I have been selling caltracs to a lot of truck owners. They really make a difference. I have a set for my truck and my brother has them on his 2000 STS truck. I would play with your lanuch speed and see what happens.
-
Yes sir. My hard work finally paid off. I'm very happy with the truck. I'm gonna get the truck aligned and take it to the real track soon. I'm looking for an 11.2X then I'll do the intake and carb mods that I have planned to hopefully get me to a 10.9X run.

I'll have 2 of the races posted up sometime this week if everything goes well.
