Ok I was thinking of some inexpensive upgrades for my 87 tbi. I want a better sound (cam) and a little more power. As for exhaust I would like a low rumble tone but not to loud. Just looking for some suggestions. I know a lot of you have tried many different set ups in your trucks. Thanks.

Flomaster for sure. I have hooker headers to dual flowmasters then the tail pipes drop off right over the rear axle. It sounds incredible. If you are getting a new cam, I would look into a new intake and carbs as well. Not super expensive and easy to install.

I have the same truck as you. I put Summit's $89 headers and strait pipes with cherry bombs, I think it sounds fine for the price lol. You could rebuild your TBI for low cost, heres a cool link for that.....http://www.gmt400.com/forum/showthread.php?704-Ultimate-TBI-mods-how-to
How many miles are on your truck? Hows the compression?

I have a 98 z 71 that I am going to take the motor out and put a new intake and tbi adapter plate, just not sure what cam or exhaust. Tha motor has 150K right now so I think I will rering it also. The motor runs great but would hate to pull it twice.

If I were you I would rebuild it. It doesn't take that long. I would put new bearings and seals, new cam, redo the heads with new springs/valves, lifters, rods, maybe even put new pistons and rings. Its all pretty cheap for a 350. Summit sells some great kits for good prices. Get the cone shaped filter for the TBI, use a spacer, get a engine dress up kit and you got your self some power and good looks. You could do a decent job for under 1 grand.
