What would it take to put in a floor shifter for and auto trans i already have buckets in the truck. Just cut a small hole in floor and hook cable to linkage? I have a shifter assembly outta a 84 Monte SS that had a TH350 trans so its all the same there. Any ideas anyone? Its going in an 81 c10 2wd

I have a floor shifter in my stepside. You pretty much named it. The linkage is what you need to make sure is set up correctly. Just be careful, most aftermarket ones don't have a shift interlock so it's easy to knock out of park.

Lokar makes a bolt on one and a cable type

You can just mount it directly to the floor using an aftermarket shifter. using a factory one from another vehicle is not going to be a simple task as placement is going to be limited.
This is what one owner did (aftermarket shifter): http://73-87.com/7387garage/interior/console.htm
This is what Jeff did (bigblock73)

the one i have outta the monte seems as thought it would bolt in there nice, however you really never know until you have it all tore down lol. But even then i can just weld on some to the bottom of the shifter i have to make it work and sit nice on the floor.

Lol. Made me think of my buddy who put some vice grips though a hole in his cab to the gear selector. He then later stuck a gear selector from an escort in there.
