Hi Guys - a couple of questions regarding the install of a fuel cell between the frame, under the bed on a 1978 short wide. Do i mount the tank with the fuel outlets facing front or rear? There are two outlets for the fuel, do I just use one and cap off the other? Would it be a good idea to go to a electric fuel pump at this time? The truck will NOT be injected. Thanks!!

Stock pump should be fine. If you mash your trash which way is the fuel going to go? TO THE REAR of the tank.
-
Makes sense, OK mount to rear. How about the two outlets, cap one?
-
Make sure that the outlets are the lowest point ( consider the rake of the truck). You should be able to run either pump if you are carb'd.

Where are you puttin your fuel door at? I have a rear mounted fuel cell too and I have to relocate mine as well. What are your plans?

I just followed Jeff's detailed instructions on this site. His "handle" is bigblock73. Here is a picture of his from his site, hope you don't mind, Jeff. You can get the whole scoop on how to do it from him. I don't know how to tell you how to find it, I'm sure someone will.

No problem Grover, can't wait to see your install.

I think Lorne(HaulinIt) did something similar to that with his fuel door, but I think he used a section of bed floor to make the door. It was pretty cool. I like what Jeff did there too.

Jeff, I'm actually waiting on one part that's on back order, should be here this week. I'll let you know how it goes. I put my battery under the bed with the bed floor being the door. Here's a couple of pics

That looks good. I used a stainless steel drop down box from CCP, and mounteed it on the outside of the frame where the gas tank used to be. Yours is much easier to access I assume. I did mine for the looks mainly.

I like that. Nice work.
