I found out today that the transfer case that came with my 89 suburban parts truck that I bought is a NP 241-c transfer case. Are these good. I know nothing about them. And how much would one be worth in used condition? Thanks.

In theory, the 205 is stronger, but I've heard very little of NP241's breaking. The 241 was designed for Heavy duty 1-ton applications, so it's designed to take internal stress like the 205 is. Chances are, you won't be overloading a NP241.
Price is a relative term depending on location/need. Keep it, you may need it some day.

The 241 replaced the 208

I thought about putting it on ebay or craigslist. What would one of these be worth??

Just a quick look around the net says $175 to sell fairly quick to $300 if you want to sit on it. (also depends on condition)
-
$75-$125 bucks around here.

I've got a pile of them and I cant seem to get $50 ea for them. From what I understand the 241 is basically a 208 with a better oiling system inside (A 241 will bolt in place of a 208). The 91 241 ran an electronic speedo which may be helpfull to some people.

I put a 241 in my mutt project and fitz is correct on the oiling. The reduction ratio is lower too.

Thanks guys!!

This will go on the 4L60E you just posted about.

It may be easier to just install a 241 from an 89-90 Blazer/Suburban that runs the cable driven speedo. It sounds like you have a 241 from a 91 Blazer/Suburban.

I just put a 241C out of a 91 blazer in my 79 gmc. The gauge cluster out of a 91 suburban(same looking gauges as your truck) will be going in as soon as I figure out the speedometer wiring. Im hoping the 2 wires coming out of the transfer case will go straight to the vss? box on the back of the cluster.

I figured it was out of a blazer/burb but the output for the front diff is on the passengers side all the other ones I seen are reverse but thanks didn't know any 241s were setup for cable drive speedometer

89-91 Blazers and Burbs ran the 241 with the front shaft on the pass sides.
