OK guy i was on my way don't the road to a small mud hole i have been playing in. then i turn the corner
and shifted in to 2nd and heard a noise and bam the hole truck locked up! first i was thinking i broke a ring or pinion.
so after playing with the shifter i found i had 1 gear and all my hi and lo in the tranfercase worked. so i drive home but when it shifted in 2 to locked onces more so once more i put it in first gear and it moved fine. then i try ed 2nd and 3rd and it feel like something is holding the trans from working.
my friend say its stuck in 2 and 3 gear at the same time is this so if so what do i do? and so i don't forget i have a th400 with a revs valve body and a Np 203.
so since the day i got it iv have to shift it with the cheata shifter in the truck. not sure what to do. can i just get a 700r4?

Get the 400 rebuilt.....cheaper and stronger

When did you do the valve body? Drop the pan and make sure the gaskets and seperator plate are in tact, no bolts falling out etc.

its a built tranny but i didn't do it.
i don't like having to shift it all the time.
i was told its out of a stock car.. i just don't know
i do know its has a mean shift kit. but when all this happen i was going about 10mph
i just not sure of what to do. any one got a clue what the cost to have it fixed
and why is it only binding in 2-3 gears but first and rev's are fine. even the transfercase works right in first gear

Why not just put a standard valvebody in it, and drive it like a normal person.

I'm not much for alot of mud or rock but i like the look of the high 4x4.
I'm slowly finding out things about my truck.
today i found i have a th400 bolted to a NP205. i was told i had a 203..
i still don't know why i can't move in 2 or 3 gears.. its not in the tranfercase
that all works. so must be in the trans. i looked and found the modulator valve is gone in the trans why?
my buddy says some one dumped alot of cash to make the th400 bolt to a NP205 and do the conversion for 2 wheels drive.
i did find the last owner was a UMP Modified drive. so I'm guessing this is why i have a four link and the th400 with the slap shifter
so the trans should be built real nice I'm hopping. is there any thing i can do to unstuck my trans?
