What reasons are there for using a truck as a donor for engine/tbi? What about an old police car? Heavy duty van, rv, etc.? Seems like most people use a truck, but there are lots of v8 chevy's out there. Just want to look for the perfect deal with a broad set of choices.

I think most cars came with tuned port injection (TPI) which is somewhat more difficult than TBI.

Only "high end" cars had TPI, but ALL pickups had TBI 87-95, most V8 Cars stopped around 1993 or if they were present went to MPFI
So there are much more Trucks with them in my opinion. As for where you can get it, anything with a V8 TBI will work, the only issue would be if the harness wasn't long enough, but most should be if you get it out of a G or B body car.

O.K., so there really is no reason to fear a car as a donor. Thanks! Does every tbi have the poor flow ramp in the heads? Is there anything special about a police caprice or impala from that vintage as far as the motor goes? I've come across a couple of these pretty cheap with 350's in them.
