Title: core support
Post by: treestandjunkie on April 10, 2010, 09:07:37 pm
I finally had a little time to work on my headlight swap. Got every bolt out but one of the big ones on the under side. I pulled so hard that it started to round off the nut. Any suggestions on how to get it off now?? I spray pb blaster on it already and I have a limited amount of tools. Thanks guys. I was hoping to post pics today of the finished product.

Impacts really help with stubborn bolts besides that I can’t help ya maybe if you put some heat on the nut

My radiator core support bolts were rusted pretty bad as well.  Another product called "Kroil" is a good penetrating oil.  I used a breaker bar with a cheater pipe to get mine loose.  Also, bath the nuts & bolts several times over the course of a couple of days.  Together, with a small propane torch to heat up the stubborn-rusty nut/bolts are very effective tools to break them loose.

X2 on heat.  Hit it with a torch, get it red hot and it will come out.

Thanks guys!! Got it off with heat and pb blaster. I also got it painted today so maybe I will get to the conversion soon.
