Title: Door Slammers
Post by: 78 Chevyrado on April 11, 2010, 04:57:50 pm
Is it just me or does this infuriate anyone else?  Like 8 different people, ALL of whom have NEW cars, rode with me and they slam my door like they wanna flip the dang truck over.   I noticed they do this to their new cars too.  I haven't seen a car since the 80's that you had to slam the doors.   My doors click shut, and they slam the crap out of it and door actually hits the cab at the back edge of the door and then the whole good time get ruined because I have to say something, and not too nicely.   I'm glad I only have 2 doors, I don't think I could handle having four for people to slam.  I been thinking the next one that does it, when I get to their house I'm gonna slam the living crap out of the front door on their house and see what they think.  And they all wonder why after they've had a car 3 years the door creaks and the windows rattle...

And then they get all PO'd when you say something.  They got a payment plan for their car, and didn't turn one nut so I guess they'll never get it....

I despise that.  might as well add people slamming the tailgate when it also clicks shut, and the fact I won't take it anywhere for an oil change because they love SLAMMING the hood and off center at that.   The hood doesn't click shut, but you don't have to start from the full up position and pull down as hard and fast as you can either.   These people need a good beating.

Ok rant complete... >:(

My doors and tailgate have to be shut firmly, but some people really do overdo it.

Besides the words pet peeve this is my biggest pet peeve! First day I owned my 55 my best friend slammed the drivers door and cracked the window! Both doors shut quite nicely for a 50 plus year old car. Two of my ex girlfriends slammed the doors on that car for years, their kids too, even after I had meltdowns about it! They would get all pissy when I would say something about it before they did it. I would say it before they got in the car, because if I didn't they would slam it. I know they would because once in a while I would forget and they would.

Mine is people who throw the door open and just let it go.  Especially when on a downhill slant.  What do are they thinking?!

I know sometimes I will forget I have the window down and shut it normal but I end up slamming it but when I do it sounds like someone is running the nails down the chalkboard not a nice sound at all makes me just cringe

My last K30 dump the drivers door was pretty rough, got to the point you had to slam it. Did it one day, and the guy with me and I wore the window!! We just looked at each other and busted out laughing.

I fell the same way, my door seals are not the best, and when my meathead friends slam it it makes me cringe.

I have the opposite problem.  I usually have to instruct my passengers to slam the door.  Of course I've never had the plastic sleeves on the striker bolts as long as I've owned the truck.  Maybe that's what I've needed all along.  I always been so jealous when I see a truck like mine with doors that shut easily.

My plastic sleeve fell of my 86 several weeks ago. I was to lazy to go rob a sticker out of one of the parts trucks. I wrapped it tight with electrical tape. Its holding up surprisingly well!!!

Because of these people, I've learned I don't even want a car where the door has no top, just glass sticking out of the top.  I had a 69 mustang and people loved to slam it, by grabbing the top back corner of the glass.  worked good till they loosened it enough the window fell in the door.  worked even better when we got to drive in the rain and they got super soaked.. ;D

I been thinking the next one that does it, when I get to their house I'm gonna slam the living crap out of the front door on their house and see what they think.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA ... That's awesome.  As funny as it would look, Somehow I think slamming someones screen door a few times till it doesn't close properly will cause a negative response. Be funny as heck to watch, though.  ;D

I feel your pain, buddy.  My Left door is shot... all kinds of bolts missing, regulator missing its nylon rollers, glass held up by a piece of shaved 2x4...  But the right side door is quite pretty and also clicks shut... No one cares.  They get in and *SLAM*   "OOOOOHHHHHHhhhhhh Do you HAVE to do that?"
