i might be getting a 93 gmc with a 5.7 tbi, i was wondering if i could use this rebuild kit on that engine
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-SBCKIT1-000/ (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-SBCKIT1-000/)
-
if the 93 is a one piece rear main I would say not.
-
so the pistons and the bearings wouldnt work eather?
-
Most of it will, but some of the seals won't the specific crank bearings.
-
how can i find out exactly what will and what wont work?
-
Basically most of the gaskets are wrong. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FEM-MKP6156A-000/?rtype=10 Just get the correct sizes
-
so if i get a gasket set for that engine, i can use all the other parts that are in the kit that i have?(pistons, bearings, freeze plugs, rings, oil pump)
-
can someone please respond to my last question? because im going to look at the truck tomorrow and if i need to buy more than that gasket set to rebuild the engine then im not gonna buy the truck
-
How about listing the old rebuild kit in Uncle Henry's or something? Then use the $ to buy the right kit.
I haven't used either kit, just trying to throw out some suggestions.
-
i would do that but i dont think i would be able to sell it quick enough and the rebuild kit now is probably $250, and i paid $199 for my kit

You'll have to tear the engine apart to see. Do you know the bore diameter and the condition of the cylinders. Do you know if the mains and rods are in good shape? Are they standard?
Basically as far as gaskets you'll need the oil pan, rear main, intake, valve cover and valve seals. Everything else should work.

well it doesnt matter now anyways because the guy sold the truck to his brother in-law the night before i was going to look at it
