Title: rack and gear assembly
Post by: losthelegend on April 20, 2010, 08:28:45 pm
I am looking for the rack and gear assembly for a 1977 GMC K1500 w/o tilt and have had no luck finding a new one.  I looked in   and they only have one for tilt.  Does anyone have any idea where I can purchase a new one?  I dont want to go to a tilt because I would like to keep it the same way I bought it.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance for your help.

i tried that part # but when I looked at the pic its not the right one.  I also looked at the detailed buyers information and my vehicle was not listed.  The rack part that I need is similar to the one listed but mine is at an angle where the teeth begin on the rack.  I have been looking pretty hard on the internet and am getting frustrated.  Any suggestions?

You sure you can't make that one work? Search using the words ignition actuator rod also since the rack and sector gear is usually associated with tilit columns.
