Title: SM 465 & NP 205
Post by: marksp1981 on April 21, 2010, 06:39:50 am
Hey guys I bought a new sm 465 to put in my truck a few months back and this weekend discovered that the output shaft doesn't match my old sm 465. My old one has a short 10 spline and the new one has a long 31 spline. Does anyone make a coupling/sleeve to make this work with my np 205 with a 10 spline input?

Thanks for any help.

You might be looking for someone to R&R that output shaft

R&R = Remove & Replace?? Will my 10 spline output shaft fit in the tranny with a 31 spline?

It seems to me you bought a 2WD trany and you need a 4WD trany, you should be able to remove the 31 spline output and install the 10 spline output and the 4WD tail housing.

Its not a 2wd version. What information I've found on the web so far indicates that in the late 80's they extended the output shaft and changed to 31 spline. The new extended output shaft would slide directly into the t-case, no sleeve or coupling between the tranny and t-case.
