im looking at 2 diesels right now. one is a 86 3/4 ton and the other is a 82 1 ton srw. is the ride bumpiness and gas mileage very different from the two trucks? 1 ton is pretty cool but i dont want to lose my lunch everytime i drive down the road either. they both are not lifted but i think the 1 ton sits a little higher. both are silverados. the 86 has a th350 tranny in it though. but with smaller tires. any thoughts from all you pros? oh and the 86 is 2000 bucks and the 82 is only 900. sounds like the 82 would be better but like i said not if the ride quality sucked really bad

4x4 or 4x2? It isn't going to be noticable between the 2 but much rougher than a 2000-up 1 Ton...
I like the way my 1T crew rides, but it is 2WD. I hate how my 1/2T rides.

sorry they are both 4b4
just talked to the lady with the 1ton and she says its an international motor? is that the same as the gm6.2? she said it gets between 15 and 20 mpg and that it needs some work to the tranny. body is in really good shape for both trucks. now im leaning towards the 86 cuz its being used as a daily driver and the 82 sounds like it needs lots of work done to it.

unless you need a 1 ton, Id go with the 86. Its got a newer engine, and probably less wear and tear on the body. If theyre both single cabs, I dont think the ride will be much different. If the 82 is having trans issues, you'll have close to $2000 in it anyway.
My 86 1 ton crewcab rides alot better than any of the other trucks. 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton, but single cab verses single cab, I dont think it would make a noticable difference, but Ivw never had a srw 1 ton singlecab either.

I'd buy the 82 and if you don't like it just part it out. That Dana 60 front axle alone is worth the $900.

My 1983 one ton 2wd rides very rough.
MPG will probably be similar on either.
Let us know which one you get so someone can go after the other one! ::)

not sure if im getting either one. maybe ill just wait for another one around town. the 86 is 4 hrs away and the 82 is 2 hrs away but now the lady says she doesnt know if it would make the trip....big red flag to me. the 86 is a driver but 4hrs away is hard to do with a 3yr old and a new baby. who knows. another 83 is for sale closer but its a half ton. went to check it out saturday and its jacked up high, body doestn line up, makes a grind noise when you hit a bump.....uhhhhggggg why cant i just find a stock height 4x4 diesel? i dont even care what the int. looks like cuz im good at fixing that stuff. another thought...how hard is it to put a 6.2 in my 79 half ton k10? how much would a shop charge to do that? just want the better gas mileage, not necessarily a different truck. thanks for the replies guys
