Title: A.I.R/smog headers
Post by: Armor on May 04, 2010, 11:36:57 am
im looking into getting new headers to replace my manifolds, as some may know i got nailed on an inspection on the side of the road and fined for no emission equipment. Well im looking into getting headers with the connection for AIR.

Vile mentioned on another post about 88-95 headers that will work with very slight modification, and i was wondering what they were or what can be done.

my dad and I are taking a roadtrip to summit racing on ohio on the may 24 weekend, and i wanna pick them up then, so i can be legal again and not watched by the environment cops.
so far the only ones i know of that will work are the edelbrock shorty ones

, but it doesnt matter if they are long tube either.

thanks for any ideas,
morgan

Doug thorley makes smog legal headers as well. They are also full length too. If you have a O2 sensor, they have the bung for it also.

I dont have one. Plus, my headers are not smog legal. Looking through the catalog, they have a lot of part numbers for the 73-87. The OP would need to look it up based on his specific application.

well good news. right after i clicked that link for the add in pipes, i got a response from the emission guys saying that as long as the air pump is connected to the exhaust it will work. I was looking into it and i can get cats that have the AIR inlet pipe for the same cost as the regular ones, so i can hook the AIR lines to that instead of getting the AIR headers. This way i can save and not replace my manifolds right now and just get the AIR tube cats.
Saves alot of BS and work id say.

thanks for the link to those though, didnt even know they made the weld on ones.

You don't need an AIR cat if you just use a 3 way cat. If you are using AIR then you need a dual bed 3 way cat
