Title: AC blower quetion - can't remember
Post by: bobcooter on May 07, 2010, 03:44:36 am
On my 79 C-20 when you switch the AC to "max" is the fan supposed to speed up or does it just reroute more air to the dash vents? When I switch to max, I can hear it change sounds inside the AC unit but the air never speeds up any more than with it on normal. I know on some vehicles, when you switch to max thr fan blows harder. Can't remember if mine is supposed to.

I always thought the "max" position recycled the cool air from within the cab as opposed bringing warm air in from outside.  guess I'll find out if I've been wrong all these years.

That's probably what it does. You can hear a flapper closing inside the air box or whatever you call it. I was just wondering before I go buy something I don't need.

Max AC is what you see in newer cars as Recirc
Norm AC is what you see in newer cars as fresh

Grover is correct.
