My 76 C20 has always had a leak from the power steering gear box, but when I left it parked for two weeks without driving it, it will not hold any fluid in it whatsover! It leaks from the top towards the "ragjoint" . Are these hard to rebuild? A new one from classic or is almost $300. Any suggestions or comments?

Im curious about rebuilding mine also.

It depends on what you consider hard. Used ones are plentiful and reman ones aren't too expensive.

The remanufactured ones around here are the same price as a new one, thats why I'm asking before I throw down the almost $300 . I'm searching craigslist looking for another one from a parts truck, but no luck as of yet.

Where are you from? $162.99 from Autozone for a power steering gearbox with a lifetime warranty.
Part #: 7501

Must have had a brain fart! I found one at autozone for $188 and I get $56 back for the core. Put it in two days ago and its great. Had to replace the pressure hose because it was leaking also, but that was only $15. Anyway, no more leaks!
This was an interesting project to do with just getting arthroscopic knee surgery 1 1/2 weeks ago. But its done.
