1974 k20.
Trying to replace the front stabilizer shock. It's the nut/stud in the center of the bar that I'm fighting. Is the nut attached to a "pressed in" stud, or is it just temporarily rusted together? I put the nut on and gave it some pretty good wacks with a hammer. It's been soaking overnight, so might have better luck this morning.
On the shock side of that stud, is a 3/4 hex, so is that a lock nut or just the back of the stud? Highly doubt that the stud is threaded into the bar. I put a wrench on the the hex, but it seams soft and the wrench started rounding the hex.
This was suppose to be a 5 min project. There must be a trick.
Thanks,
MJ

On my 1/2 ton with a rancho shock, the shock had a stud that bolted to the tie rod.

Nevermind - I got it. The stud is tapered and the sitting overnight and a 4x6 to support the back of the rod - popped right off. NO big deal it's all - done. That was the last of my lift project last night (10:00pm), so just needed to wait until this morning. Pics of the new lift will be posted in another thread soon.
Guess this post can even be deleted if you want.
